Last weekend we went to the California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard, you can click here if you want to read all about our experience there. We also went to Ventura Beach afterwards to introduce our baby girl to the ocean and sand. I got a lot of question and compliments about my skirt so here are the outfit details before I tell you about our beach experience:
Top: Maison Jules | Skirt: Max Studio London | Shoes: old from DSW (Similar here and here) | Watch: Similar here and here | Glasses: Salvatore Fergamo | Crossbody: Michael Kors
Baby girl’s Outfit: Zara similar top here and similar shorts: here | Shoes: Sandals or Adidas
My baby girl was sleeping when we got to Mandalay Beach in Ventura. So I had to wake her up. She was half asleep as I carried her across the sand to get closer to the waves. The beach was so clean, and the sand is almost white and so warm.
I think when she saw the big waves she was in shock. They were powerful and she just kept holding onto me tighter, I guess she didn’t know what to make of it. I explained to her it was water, but it was not behaving in the same kind she always knew. I tried putting her feet into the cold water, but she started crying and holding onto me more. There were kids swimming nearby which I thought would bring her comfort but she it didn’t work.
The worst part was when I put her down to feel the warm sand. And she was crying even more, I guess the feeling of something engulfing your feet like that could be pretty scary for the first time.
I wanted her to be fearless and to push her and make her touch the water and sand so she can know that it is something to be enjoyed. But it was in vain. My husband told me not to worry, that just like she got over many fears in the past, she will get over this one before we know it. I guess he is right…
One day I will be begging her to stop playing in the sand and the water because she will love it so much.
